Training Programme

 

Based on the Competence Profile of EU Project Managers, a training curriculum has been defined comprising six modules aiming at developing the required competences and focusing on the several phases of a project implementation. A short presentation of each module is presented below.

 

Module Objectives of the Module

Module 1: Framework

This module focuses on the Identification Phase in which a project is scoped.

• To offer to EU project managers’ an overview on EU funding opportunities and main rules (Multiannual financial framework 2014-2020);
• To improve EU project managers’ technical skills in the use of the Logical Framework Approach to analyse the problems, work out suitable solutions and successfully implement them within the framework of EU funded projects;
• To provide EU project managers with tips and tools enabling them to transform a first idea in a project and check its feasibility.

Module 2: Planning

This module focuses on the phase of a project life-cycle called project planning.

• To present to EU project managers an overview of project planning methods, tools and techniques;
• To improve EU project managers’ technical skills in the use of project planning methods, tools and techniques;
• To present to EU project managers the basic components of a project start-up document;
• To provide EU project managers with competences and tools enabling them to transform identified project ideas into a project start-up documentation that presents the basis for effective and efficient project implementation.

Module 3: Financial Management

This module focuses on financial management of a project

• To provide a general introduction to accounting
• To create a better understanding and insight into financial terms.
• To support project managers in understanding the principles and means of financial management.
• To equip project managers with competences to being able to communicate with accounting departments and funding authority on financial issues.

Module 4: Marketing & Communication

This module focuses on the marketing and communication actions within a EU project

• To understand the importance of marketing and communication for the success of EU projects;
• To differ internal and external marketing and communication;
• To adjust marketing and communication actions according to the project phase;
• To select the appropriate tools and channels for marketing and communication;
• To define indicators for the marketing and communication activities.

Module 5: Monitoring and Evaluation

This module focuses on the monitoring and evaluation as an integral part of the daily project management

• To raise participants' awareness of the role of monitoring in project management system.
• To achieve the systematized knowledge about the monitoring
• To present monitoring tools which will be used in project implementing
• To provide participants with the opportunity to experience working with the monitoring tools using information from their own “real” projects.
Module 6: Supporting Skills This module focuses on the soft skills that need to be acted during the different project phases.
